Olympic National Park
Start a new adventure and join the Untethered community in the enchanting setting of the Pacific Northwest.
Trip Overview
On this trip you can expect to see incredible wildlife (think: seals, starfish, bald eagles), unique sea stacks, and unreal sunsets. We backpack into the Olympic backcountry and make camp 50-yards from the beach with bonfires and soothing sounds of crashing waves.
Our hike out to Olympic’s famous tides pools is dependent on, well, the tides. So you’ll see the freshest pools teeming with life.
No experience is required for this backpacking trip, making it the perfect option for those looking to gain a new skill or simply try something new. You can expect a full, concierge-style service with a generous learning curve that moves at your own pace.
We provide you with equipment that’s made specifically for women, so you don’t have to worry about buying new gear if this is your first adventure. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks are supplied each day. Because nothing goes better with a beach campfire than tasty campfire-grilled food.

Itinerary
Day 1
Welcome! One of our guides picks you up either at the Seattle airport or at your hotel if you arrive a day early. After a casual meet-and-greet, our guides drive everyone the three hours to our first campground in the front country. That night we have a welcome dinner with a quick orientation: gear familiarization, safety briefing.
Day 2
We have breakfast at our campground and then pack up our gear to get ready to backpack into the backcountry. After a short drive to the trailhead, we start our mid-morning hike to Mosquito Creek Backcountry Group Site. Just a heads up: Our start time changes depending on the tides because we have to wait for low tide to access the crossings to our campsite.
Day 3
After breakfast, we leave our campsite standing, pack our daypacks, and head out to the famous Olympic tidepools—where we see starfish, seals, and the awesome-ly dynamic ecosystems that exist in tidepools. Lunch is out at the pools. After a day of exploration, we head back to our campgrounds for our final dinner in the backcountry.
Day 4
After enjoying our last breakfast in the backcountry, we pack up camp and head back to the trailhead—our departure time will depend on the tides. Once we reach the trailhead we begin the three-hour drive back to Seattle. For the last night on your Untethered Expeditions adventure, everyone stays in a downtown hotel (yes, that means a shower). Finally, our group has a farewell dinner in a restaurant out on the town.
Day 5
Breakfast is included, and transfers to area hotels or SeaTac airport will commence. This day is entirely flexible to work with everyone's departures.

-
One of your guides will pick you up at the airport or hotel if you arrived a day early, and drive you and the rest of your group to the first campsite in the front country.
-
We ask that you are in the Seattle-area or SeaTac airport ready for pickup no later than 1 PM on Day 1 because we leave shortly after. We highly recommend arriving in Seattle the day before your trip start date in order to avoid any hiccups or travel delays—we cannot delay the trip if your flight gets canceled the day-of.
-
We got you! We provide a majority of the gear/equipment so that you can take the guesswork out of this process. This includes tents, women-specific backpacks and sleeping bags, sleeping pads, a drybag for your personal items and clothes, and all camp-cooking equipment. We offer a trip-specific list of recommended additional items that we do not include such as personal clothing, water bottles or hydration packs, hiking boots, etc. Every item on the additional gear list will have examples and links of how to choose them and where to find them.
